Reverol: the artist of Mother Nature

Reverol art works are filled with a delicate sensitivity towards mother nature and the respect and preservation of the traditions and legends of the Wayuu people, instilled by her roots and by the love for her maternal grandmother: a tribute to women, nature and art.

Reverol was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. In 1974 being very young she enters in the Association of Musicians and Artists of the State of Zulia, where she carried out her first studies in drawing and painting.

After graduating in Humanities and Psychoanalysis in Maracaibo and Caracas, she works for the Venezuelan state as a psychoanalyst, in an institution for minors with behavioral problems.

But from 1980 she takes the decision to totally dedicate to her painting and literary expression studies at The Secretary of Culture, Academy of Fine Arts Neptalí Rincón in the Zulia State.

Regardless of her art studies, she is passionate about photography, which is why decides to enroll at the INCE Graphic Arts Center. Where she studies reproduction photography and holds a photography workshop in homage to Pedro Villasmil at the Center of Fine Arts in Maracaibo.

In 1986 she participates in the II Biennial City of Maracaibo, with her work entitled "Presentment". An oil on canvasof large dimensions in a surreal style.

In 1987 Reverol married the also artist Ángel Sevillano Estremera, and in January of that same year she moved to live in Spain, where she continues with her artistic career in addition to teaching painting classes in her art studio, who at the end of the course held an exhibition in the hall of the Instituto de Carril, in Vilagarcía de Arosa, which was reviewed by the press.

Having Wayuu roots with a grandmother who belonged to the cacique noble families, the art of Reverol is influenced by this culture: the legends, landscapes and traditions of the high peninsula of La Guajira in Colombia. The lands of La Guajira are arid deserts that flow into the Caribbean Sea, for this reason it is recurrent to see in Reverol's paintings cacti with exuberant flowers, radiant suns, trees bent at the whim of the wind, and stunning sunsets.
